Nike: Own The Floor
Dancers sweat and strive, break barriers, records and their bodies, even inspire communities - just like athletes. Not for medals and trophies, but because it’s just who they are.
Own The Floor by Nike redefines what it means to be a traditional athlete through authentic stories from the dance community.
But more than that, Own The Floor is a rally cry for everyone who loves to dance - to own their story, the way they move, their style, their identity and to be fearless about leaving it all on the dance floor.
We amplified this rally cry across South East Asia with three local voices.
Lego Sam: Own Your Voice
Dance gave Lego Sam, a B-Boy from Malaysia, the courage to stand up for what he believes in and uses it to amplify the voice of his community.
*My primary role in this campaign was taking the lead on Lego Sam’s story. Using soundbites from his interview, I wrote the script for the film as well as two editorials on the Nike App.
Read his story here and about his style here . (Screenshots below if you don’t have the app)
Sophie & AC Bonifacio
While dance empowered Lego to find his voice, it enabled Sophie, a dancer from Thailand to claim power over her body, take charge of her sexuality and confront gender norms and stereotypes. And for AC Bonifacio in the Philipinnes who is always in the spotlight, dance allowed her to overcome her insecurities and self-doubt.
STORY EDITIORIAL
STYLE EDITORIAL
I’ve always been a huge fan of Nike - playing sports all my life with all my idols wearing the Swoosh, and even my favourite musicians having Nike collabs’. Nike has always been more than a sports brand by being a part of culture, music and art, and it was extremely cool just to be a part of that.
Thank You BBH.
